Reading piecemeal due to needing to consult it about different stages of butchery, while also attempting to read straight through -- enjoying so far!

I'm reading this book piecemeal as I dispatch and process rabbits for meat, skins, and bones, but so far so good!

BOY is this an easy read so far. Picked it up at 4:45 yesterday, three hundred pages in by 8 am today. Should've saved it for the beach I guess.

Stoughton gave me a library card and we instantly got out ten books so it is FINALLY TIME FOR SCORPIO RACES

can't find the damn book to finish it but I LOVE it

book is definitely improving; still contains a fifty year old man fixated on an eighteen or nineteen year old girl tho, so

Spoilery update: apparent death of only actual female character currently being used to further men; i.e., she's been fridged. I skipped ahead out of rage and it appears to be temporary (possibly staged) but that doesn't actually get the author out of having used the trope.

It's not that this is a bad book, it's just that the only female character who there's any focus on hasn't been heard from since page 6, they're in space with massive physiological differences and totally new political structures and yet somehow binary gender is still Super Important And Identical, and a native Belter is fixated on how the coffee he's been drinking since literal birth isn't as "real" as Earth Coffee.

So far the thing I am most enjoying (that is not plot related; the plot is great) is Pierce's subtle "This is Arram, a brown boy. Who is brown." I see somebody got tired of her characters being white-washed.

how is it possible for one version to be 240 pages and one to be 416 in tiny type

my version of this is literally twice as long even though the ISBN numbers match up so I had to use percentages, this book is taking me FOREVER
