This book is killing me! Too much detail. Nothing has happened as Ayla, Jondalar, Whinney (the mare) Rider (the colt) and Wolf set out for his home land. Escaped a flash flood, came upon a settlement but the people hid out of fear. They were seen as spirits because of the animals they were able to control. They crossed a lot of water in a boat, saw a lot of trees and plants and had alot of sex. Not much story yet.

Started reading Feb 20/25. Just getting into it. Fantasy is not my preferred genre but i will give it a go. Highly recommended by Deb from book club.

The writing style is very cryptic. Things or events are referenced but not explained. Maybe it will all come together in the end.

Lots and lots of description. Feels very “artsy”. Not sure how this will go. Shandel knows the author. Shandel did not enjoy the book but won’t share why until I finish reading it.

Not a very good book. Very choppy. Text doesn’t flow. Feels more like an adolescents book.

Don’t think I can finish it. I’m on Page 226 of 487 and continue reading because my next book isn’t ready for pickup yet.

Patience is a midwife. Her husband won’t enlist for WWII. She loves her life as it is but totally disrespects him for his choice. No information to help the reader understand the issues.

Nov 2024 book club

It’s a scary confirmation of a miscarriage of justice. The hopelessness Ronald felt, the dismissal of black jurors, the charge of the second rape. He was innocent but no one would fight for him

Lots of new characters being introduced

It’s slow. A young girl’s life in Yellowknife as a white person in an indigenous location. Her thoughts. Her ways of coping. Her discovery and slowly developing awareness of racism.

A young Margie growing up and seeing prejudice and feeling the guilt for the way her people treated Indigenous people I Yellowknife

Story is going much better. Less useless detail and more progress in the people side of the book

So many extra details. Perhaps they will be referred to later on but I’m not thinking so. Hard read. Keep falling asleep.

Haven’t read soft porn like this for a long time. Easy read. Seems a bit shallow. I know there is a twist at the end and I’m looking forward to getting to that part.

The story is starting to develop now. I’ve started reading it more consistently and it is making a difference. The different perspectives are starting to flow together

The story is picking up now

Having a tough time getting into it. On Page 86 on Sept 15/23
