perfect book about being in love with an ugly cruel man because at the very least it gives one a purpose…. voice of a generation

as someone who has lived in texas my whole life… this portrayal of the south is so flat and boring. one of the most beautiful things about living in the south is that a lot of moving sentiments are expressed in oftentimes simple and fractured language… and yet lacey has all of these characters go on tragic 3 page monologues talking with language like they have an mfa.. literally cartoonish rendering of the south

i think my issue with this novel is a lot of the beautiful lines dont seem earned. in the sense that every chapter is another random character going on a 3 page monologue and thats pretty much it…. which is fine but with a story like this i feel like theres so much more to explore

catherine lacey is so hit or miss for me and unfortunately this one is missing

this is good but i was expecting something less subtle due to how many ppl love it

getting an arc of this book is my reward for being tortured throughout the month of june

can tell this will be a new favorite

beautiful book but has also put me in a reading slump due to how dense it is

need to finish this book tn to put myself out of my misery

i am mostly fine with internet novels/novels that heavily feature the internet but when i see the word reddit im like oh no….
