Good visuals, a step above most books I’ve read lately. Varied methods of storytelling are appreciated, though this book is necessarily reflective of the tiring (no pun intended) systems and institutions we have in contemporary society, which I usually find boring. VA is great at characterization.

E-book. Seems like this magical candy shop/coffee shop theme is big in Japan.

I think the book could have ended already, but we need a gun battle… I hope something more profound is provided still. Overall, good.

Male VA sounds like a noir narrator, not my favorite.

This prose is extremely dry and I am not hooked yet at 13%. I enjoyed the limited imagery given. Describing the violin splintering like bird feathers on the street: 👍. Imagery is so rare in the first section it sometimes feels forced though.

Mostly heavy handed, with little nuance so far. A lament and call to action in our times, but with slow response from the Freynans of our day. 60% done, still wondering about the “why” question. Doubt the answer will be satisfactory, as in life. A plea thinly veiled as entertainment. Is this book YA?

Fun! I don’t usually read a lot of sci fi but am enjoying so far in e-book.
