Ok, so I’m listening to the book and have definitely lost track of some details but I am confused as to what age Locke is. He plans these complicated heists and impersonates grown ups but sounds and acts like a child sometimes.

Wish he’d made Gabriel sound like the french man he was instead of a brit occasionally talking with a french artist ( I’m not listening to the audio version. The observation is based on vocabulary and phrasing alone)

I'm sorry....it took me months as a child to learn how to read....and they have one day left to prevent a curse, and they think not only that the best thing to do is teach someone how to read, but also that it is an executable task? I mean this novel has had me rolling my eyes from the start but this is by far the biggest eye roll thus far.

Listen, the story is growing on me... Mainly because I'm curious about the villan and not because the main characters or the plot are of any real interest, but here is my real issue:if they'd not mention Crier was an automae, that she was made, I wouldn't have known at all. She's just too humanized and I guess that's the point, but I don't buy it. If I was in this story I'd become the villan too.

This much in and all I've been reading about is sappy love stories, hidden magic and a princess being married off... But no actual magic, no reason why other types of magic was not accepted and just simpleton's monarchy. I think I may be cursed to read bad books this year. Pierce Brown better hurry up.

Reading this in anticipation of the sequel, which I had no idea existed until two days ago. However, I'm not finding it as exciting as I remember it to be. It is however the beginning and Baz has not even made his entrance. But I'm afraid what I remember is in fact an excellent piece of fanfiction that I read after the book.

I can't help but notice that everytime Kvothe has sex there is no mention whatsoever of protection. I mean yeah, the Hammer (sorry don't know how to spell her adam name or adam because it's an audio book) asked him if he was free of disease, which he consented to, though having, what I can only presume from the story, unprotected sex with that girl from the inn.

The story has shifted into a borring turn, with the coming to Severin. I wait to find the interesting parts that Kvothe promissed the Chronicler to speak about, but all I hear is him putting himself into the friendzone. Do I admire his attitude, yes, but honestly he's taking it to the extremes.

Kvothe reminds me what Harry Potter would have been like if he didn't have Hermione around to keep him from pursuing incredibly stupid ideas and if he was actually good at magic. But the Wise Man's fear provides for better action and entertainment, for although I cannot help berate Kvothe in my head, he certainly keeps things interesting.

THE DAY IN REVIEW
“I will keep constant watch over myself and—most usefully—will put each day up for review. For this is what makes us evil—that none of us looks back upon our own lives. We reflect upon only that which we are about to do. And yet our plans for the future descend from the past.”

It seems that I have some catching up to do, but otherwise this should take up the rest of the year.
