April Thrush is starting Changes That Heal: How to Understand the Past to Ensure a Healthier Future
There are major issues with this book in the treatment of mental health disorders. There is a recurrent theme in this book that depression, anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, and many others can be healed through proper boundaries and other therapeutic practices. I don’t remember anything being said about the benefits of medication and the fact that many who struggle with mental health need them.

“…And there is a Catskill eagle in some souls that can alike dive down into the blackest gorges, and soar out of them again and become invisible in the sunny spaces . And even if he forever flies within the gorge, that gorge is in the mountains; so that even in his lowest swoop the mountain eagle is still higher than other birds upon the plain, even though they soar.” You’ve captured my heart, Melville.

This book is like watching a train wreck that I can’t look away from. It’s so terrible but I can’t believe how terrible it is and I have to finish it now

April Thrush is starting Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life
Wow I didn’t know I was going to get lectured about how I’m contributing to systemic injustice by going grocery shopping . I should have seen that coming with the foreword being written by Andy crouch . I guess that’s what everyone’s writing about these days

April Thrush is starting Sense and Sensibility
It’s amazing looking back on when I first picked up a Jane Austen novel (Pride and Prejudice), putting it down right away not understanding the wording and the reasoning behind it being a classic, in comparison to now, hanging onto her every sentence, taking it all in. She is quickly sliding her way up to being one of my favorite authors!

I suspect my husband thinks I’m absolutely batty by now, but I’m having fun tidying up... I just discovered today I have exactly 12 casual shirts total now... wow, now I need to go shopping for clothes I actually like ;D

I love this book. I know I kind of read the books out of order, but no matter. The problem I am seeing with other people who read this book from the US is that they are reading it through their western perspective, and therefore they do not get when Marie talks about “thanking” your possessions before discarding them. Things of that sort. Keep in mind people, she’s writing from an eastern perspective!

April Thrush is starting Spark Joy: An Illustrated Master Class on the Art of Organizing and Tidying Up
I just love this style of “tidying up.” Its different from minimalism because minimalism is trying to live on the very bare essentials, whereas this approach takes the focus on having less, and really focuses on having more in a way! Keeping those things that really do give you joy and being more mindful of your possessions. I love this approach

This book really should have been included in my Intercultural Studies degree! I’m greatly enjoying it already. It’s right up my alley ! Every westerner who wants to take their readings of scripture to the next level should pick this one up too

April Thrush is on page 80 of 224 of American Cozy: Hygge-Inspired Ways to Create Comfort & Happiness
I’m flying through this book, but I’m starting to wonder if it is because it is so aesthetically pleasing. The smaller paragraphs, the font, not too many words on each page, the illustrations on almost every page, the book cover! It’s so cozy, even though most of what I’ve read so far is simplistic. Oh well 😝

April Thrush is 28% done with The Sacred Enneagram: Finding Your Unique Path to Spiritual Growth
So far, I am starting to notice that the author has come from a Christian background, but he seems to be putting too much stock in the Enneagram. I can see the value in it, but I think he might be over-stressing the importance of using it. I think one can find their identity and their True Self through their walk with Christ and that you don’t need Enneagram to do that. That idea has not yet even been presented...
