Flying through this - I’m loving it.

Reading the illustrated version for the first with my kindergartener. It’s great for introducing new vocabulary, and the pictures help hold his interest. It’s been a lot of fun!

I just finished The Secret Adversary. I love many Agatha books but they’re not all created equal, and that has been my least favorite so far.

All I can say is thank goodness for Hans, and I can only really try to enjoy this book if I throw reasoning completely out the window because this uncle is wild - Only bringing 5 days worth of water on a completely unknown trip??? And justifying it with “science” because yes we could bring more but who’s to say we won’t find a water source down there so let’s not bring enough? Haha

I’m just starting the first chapter again and wow I love this book so much. It makes me so happy!!

I know this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. The footnotes are unusual (but such a creative idea I love it!), it’s very slow paced, and incredibly long. But I absolutely adore unique stories.

The world building, format, breadcrumbs throughout… are all fantastic. The more I read it the better it gets.

I’m struggling with this one for sure.

Fanny is sweet and I can completely see where she’s coming from in this story. She’s been misused and abused for a long time and just silently takes it, which I can see why due to her personality and circumstances. However… she doesn’t make for a very interesting heroine and this story draaaagggggs….

Starting my third round through this series this year haha. It’s all thanks to Jim Dale and nostalgia and feeling incredibly sick because of first trimester pregnancy. It’s comfort food at this point.

Hilarious. I just got to the piano performance by Jane and laughed out loud. I turned to this because I was disappointed by the last romance I read, and this is proving to be a lot of fun already.

I’m really enjoying reading books lately that contain mythology from around the world. Any suggestions to add to my list?

Whoo boy this one is tough. I enjoyed Verne's "Around the World in 80 Days" and I like the premise of this one, but so much of the book is dedicated to intricately describing marinelife and I'm just not sure where it's going. If the next 64% continues like the first 36% then I'll be dragging my feet until the end. To be fair, I really enjoyed the first 10%.

I absolutely loved The Night Gardner. I can’t wait to start this one!

So weird. I love it already. Quirky books are my favorite and this one is excellent.

In the first trilogy the slow buildup over time of the main characters’ romance was perfect. I loved it! But this one feels weak by comparison. I almost feel like the way it happened was cheating. The two “connected” via healing and were so us readers don’t get to enjoy the slow burn process of them falling for each other. It was instantaneous. The rest of the book would be much better without it.

So far I am unimpressed with this book. The writing is awkward and choppy and the main character is boring. The idea and world is incredible so I’ll keep reading, but at this point it’s a drag.
