REALLY struggling with this one.

How did I not know about this book??


SUPER excited!

I'm trying with this one.. I really am. But I'm fighting temptation to do ANYTHING OTHER than listen to this.

meh.. Overused device of 'this is a true story based on a diary someone gave me'... hoping it gets better as it goes.

Adult fiction done right... I'm exhausted and putting it down for tonight.

So far so good.. not sure if this is a true-to-life depiction of aspergers/autism, but really enjoying the narrative

Considering how madly in love I am with the crusty old man by the end of chapter one, and how much I adore the storytelling... this book would have to take a pretty awful nose-dive for listening to this to be anything other than a pleasure. WHOOHOO!!!

Just for my personal knowledge, can someone tell me if my review reposts every time I update it? I'm hoping not (I'm horrible for minor edits post-post), but... I'm not sure. Anyone?

Did I miss the bit where they actuallly fell in love? And what's with the sex in this book??

Maybe I just expect to much... ***sigh*** cliche rich family with emotional problems, loving poor family with tragic story, weird lolita vibe early on... and last night I went to bed feeling like I had just attended Catholic mass.

Book 3 of our book club (code for me and my mom) read.

This has to be the most disappointing high-profile book I have EVER read. Dear gawd, I just want it to be the hell over with already. Whatever the 'wisdom' is here that other people get, I'm not getting it whatsoever: a pseudo-intellectual describing navel lint in excruciating detail is neither intelligent nor compelling.

Am now only finishing so I can write a review on this book. Kind of disheartening that this one is so popular.

Totally NOT the book I thought it was. Cray-cray or incredible writer? Hmmm...

Probably not the book for everyone.. but holy hell, this is funny!

If this book doesn't turn around soon, it's going on my DNF shelf. So far, one long lecture on being a nicer person... NOT why I wanted to read this book.

I apologize for the random thoughts here.. need to find a way to save for my future review that won't clog up your feed. Anyhow.. sociology = our behaviors are defined by society. Premise of this book: shame is related to (societal) isolation. Not sure I agree with either one. Ahh the problems of being a non-social creature.

Are guilt and shame rooted in the same issue? And how does shame affect those of us who aren't very social (or influenced by peer pressure)? Hmm.

Let me just take a moment to say I love everyone's reviews! I don't care if I've read the book or not... I so enjoy reading them. So thank you to you all for taking your time to type them here <3

Still not sure about this one.. sort of a more boring version of The Road

Really enjoying the honesty of this story rather dark story. (My favorite bit: when the dog refers to the kids as 'puppies'. LOVE it!)
