Coming to a curious conclusion! I'm eager to get to the end now. Not many pages to go and I'm intrigued by a lot of the twists and turns happening, and the extremely muddled way I've come to view these androids. I think the conclusion will really make or break this story.

Loving this one so far. Very interesting premise and well-executed. Raises some great questions about humanity so far, and reflects even some goings in modern day. Fascinating.

Really not enjoying the handling of the sexual assault. Again. Can we not sit with this topic for more than two pages before we're getting horny and talking about bending people over? Good lord. What happened to the interesting writing and character interactions?

Why did we have to reduce Sloane to this level of idiocy? Instead of using the trauma from her youth that was RIGHT THERE, she's afraid of being left 'because nobody else stuck around'?? Oh brother...

I DID love the part with the guy, what, Harvey Mead?? I can't remember his name. At least, until they started making out instead of helping a poor captured woman. Hello? Priorities? Isn't your arm dislocated? Sigh.

Rowan's handy dandy guide to helping someone having PTSD-esque flashbacks about CSA: touch them and cage them in your arms (then tighten that grip) WITHOUT asking for permission, because it's a well-known fact that people who have been sexually assaulted really love being touched and tightly held without warning while their mind is literally stuck in that moment.

Even if Sloane wasn't the direct victim... NOT it.

I forgot how different contemporary is. The vocabulary and prose are so different and far less complex than my norm. Not a bad thing, but it's such easy reading that I feel understimulated...

Sloane and Lark have so much chemistry...

Not ready for the plot to take off again. I'm scared for another dip in quality or stupid plot beat. Hold my hand please I'm nervous (shakes like a scared little dog)

It's been... not as bad as anticipated? I think Meatbun does their best when they're not being painfully angsty. I like this lighter tone we've got going with Gu Mang and Mo Xi right now. It's working really well.

Honestly, if we stuck with these sorts of vibes and handled the darker sides of the story the way the tragic lovers' arc was handled I think Meatbun's work would be phenomenal.

Yep, Meatbun's back on their bullshit. I'm so mad that this arc got ruined by unbearable, pointless edge. I know I'm reading the danmei Monarch of edge, but this arc felt so meaningful and powerful up until the moment we meet the Guoshi.

I liked the Guoshi at first! But his actions and motives were excessive in a bad way. Had it said something about senseless cruelty I might have enjoyed it. It was just weak.

So far, these 52 pages have been the best of any of Meatbun's work so far. The story between Li Qingqian and Hong Shao is beautifully written. The moment that he has to see her spirit off and free her is absolutely haunting and melancholy. I rag on Meatbun a lot, but Remnants of Filth has impressed me a lot compared to Erha so far, and I really think credit is due for this part of the book.
