This book takes commitment given it's length, but it's by far the best I've read in unpacking, analyzing, and bringing to life the rich and challenging history of countries across Europe since the end of WWII. The leadership struggles, the system battles (communism v. capitalism v. everything in between), the rollercoaster ride of the USSR; it's all here.
Settle in as it's a long ride, but definitely well worth it.
