Started off slow, picked up and got interesting and then ended when I didn’t think it was finished!

This book is triggering. I’ve read historical fiction based on true events before not really sure why this one is having such an impact. Politics drive many agendas even when it doesn’t appear so. The AUDACITY of some people is mind blowing. The fact that people can look you straight in the face, lie AND gaslight you at the same time is Oscar worthy.

An urban version of The Devil wears Prada

It should not take more than half of the book to get to the point and/ or climax. I was just about to put the book down! Some authors spend too much time on background.

I have a love hate relationship with this series. Pearl and her mom are too much, but the comedic timing makes me laugh.

Great history lesson about aspects of the Tulsa Race Massacre.

Good but unnecessarily long.

I did not expect to enjoy this audio as much as I did. I love Whoopi and have all of her books except this one but haven’t finished any of them just cause but this one I did. It was funny to hear about her life but the best chapters for me in this season were 13 and 14 which discusses tips on how to grieve the loss of a mother.

Hmmm, I enjoyed learning more about African Americans and music but I knew the identify of the thief immediately. The book could have been shorter, it was an ok read.

I enjoyed the read. It could have been slightly shorter.

The first book was good. The second was as soso.
