Its really cool hearing about how Humboldt discovered or at least hypothesized all these scientific ideas that today are considered common knowledge. I also really appreciate the link between colonization, exploitation of people, and the destruction of the environment.

Making the argument that Humboldt created the idea of nature as we know it is a big claim, and I fear this excludes ant non-European ideas of nature and the environment

Naomi and Mayas' perspectives and storylines are so similar that mid chapter I'm forgetting who's perspective we're reading from
