Esther is starting The Sentence
They first words on the blurb are ‘wickedly funny’. This is incorrect.

I read a book a few years ago where none of the dialogue had quotation marks around it and it annoyed me so much that I had to stop reading. This book also doesn’t have quotation marks around dialogue but it is done so well I barely even notice.

This is so intense it makes me feel like I’m having a heart attack. I can only read this in short sections, and not at night, and not if I need to be calm for the rest of the day. Maybe I should not read thrillers, actually. Seems unhealthy for me.

LOVE the German girls running around the woods and being vaguely witchy. Love the language. Don’t particularly care for the minutiae of the hardships of the boat etc.

One of my pet peeves is when a plot point mentioned in the blurb doesn’t come up until very deep into the book. I’m 3/4 of the way through now and I’m only just cutting free from where the blurb left me. I am actually enjoying this a lot more though. I believe it could majorly pick up the pace. We forget so quickly the lessons we learn from vine.

Okay I’m like 100 pages in and it’s a bit frustrating. They keep being like ‘yeah bruh, totally natural to ask questions, ask as many as you want’ and then literally not answering any of them. Mate, I do not care about any of these characters so you’re going to have to give me a little exposition to keep me interested.

This one is putting me through the wringer. It's way too real.
It's so real and I can imagine for some people it would be very cathartic. For me right now, I just don't want to cry listening to this book on the train.
