The Part About The Critics - so fabulous. I love these little nerds. Bolaño takes such “inaccessible” interests (literary criticism in the ivory tower etc) and makes them exciting and endearing. His writing is so easy to read - but that isn’t to say it’s bad, rather it is so well crafted that it flows over you without obstacle. I know the book is going to get more difficult but I’ll enjoy this while I can

From the preface:

“It all depends on *how* the attention has been cheated, has been squandered. These are high-handed insolent frauds, and there are insidious sneaking ones. And there is, I fear, even on the most designing artist’s part, always witless enough good faith, always anxious enough desire, to fail to guard him against their deceits.”
