How depressing that 40 years later and this sentence is still accurate, "that all women who intended to go out by themselves should learn self defense...the alternative is that men's nature should change, and that was something which might slowly happen over centuries but not in years or even decades." Ugh.

I hate it when authors give the main character too many names. Main character is: Mere, Merry, Meredith, and Detective. Pick two and stop rotating them.

Already annoyed by the male author's POV of how a woman character thinks/acts in situations.

So far, I think the editor failed in their job to cut out duplicate scenes, lines, etc. It's the same self-loathing, helpless descitpion amd enless fight scenes on regurgitate mode. Hoping it gets better, but right now this is not the Dresden I wanted.

I feel like I'm slow reading a TV/Movie script and can't fast forward.

It's already filled with unnecessarily bad one-liners. I was lured in with the synopsis, but don't know if I can stay with the Paranormal Romance category. It has potential, but not if it can't get over the bad introductions.
