DNF. There's a fine line between depth and pedantic descriptions. If someone is into hyper-descriptive Venetian social landscapes, they will love this book. I just need more at halfway through. I don't feel connected to any of the characters, and I'm just not interested in the social dynamics, even if it's leading somewhere.
