It’s a half-century old so the language is sometimes quite past-it, but still: a satire with such prescience, politically and theologically. I need to read all of Percy’s novels.

A nice time management book that helpfully upends lots of expected self-help time management advice (e.g. re: how to get more productivity out of your day by organising it differently). Borrowing from generic “Buddhist” mindfulness practice and some parts of AA (though not the spiritual ones: this book is decidedly if shallowly a-theological), it provides an accessible melange of useful learning and practice.

Trey Hall is starting Tremor
An unusual novel, unique in its voicing. Sometimes clinical, sometimes evocative, and tracings at once beautiful, reflective, and maddening between the inside of the stories of contemporary academics and artists, and people enslaved in periods of early American history. Not a book for everyone but I’m really glad I read it.

Trey Hall is finished with Wellness
100 pages in and I'm still not sure whether this is a novel or an extended work of parody or homily.

If you’re not an alcoholic and want to understand what alcoholism feels like, is fuelled by, is about so much more than the alcohol itself, read this book.

Matthew Perry’s drinking and using were very different from mine, and his life was very very different from mine, but we shared a common problem and — thanks be to God and the community of Alcoholics Anonymous — a common solution.

RIP, Matthew Perry.
