“In reflecting on the role of authority, he has said, “Authority comes from the Latin augere, meaning ‘to grow’. To have authority is not to be an oppressor. Oppression is a distortion of authority. When exercised correctly, authority implies creating a space where a person can grow. Anyone with authority is capable of creating a space to grow.”

Kindle died on me, so I haven't been reading much! Hopefully I'll get it fixed or replaced soon enough...

Been watching Mr. Robot and it got me thinking / interested in the whole idea of hackers and what they do.

This was the first book I saw among the Kindle Unlimited shelves about it, so I'm giving it a shot.

This book went in a direction that feels completely perpendicular to the original...not sure I'm happy about it, either.

And there's a lot of Allan Quatermain influence throughout...

I'm just over halfway, I think, and I'm enjoying the read. It feels like vintage Sanderson, which make sense, given it is vintage Sanderson.

I'm not blown away, and I don't know if it will end up higher on my list than Mistborn, but I'm glad I finally got around to starting it!

I'm maybe 35% or so into this book, and I'm afraid I'm going to end up feeling sort of negative about it. The writing is the best of the three books so far, but the plot feels like he's trying to get as epic as possible, and it's a bit too predictable...

...Kate Beckinsdale as Sarah, and Bradley Cooper as Scott, the husband.

If they get that one director who only works with Cooper/Hunger Games girl, it'll be Cooper/Hunger Games girl.

I'm about 30% of the way into this and it's a fairly good read -- it's gut-wrenching to read about a parent dealing with the loss of a child, especially as a parent myself...

I've found myself casting the movie already, and part of me thinks the author wrote this book with the sole purpose of making it a movie and getting rich, which sort of gives me an icky feeling...anyway, Rosemary Byrne as the lead (Kat)...

So far, I'm just constantly annoyed by Eason's writing. Often, it's just a string of fragments with no subjects, seemingly for effect. It just makes me think of a 19-year old who thinks her writing is so cool but it really isn't.
