So far, the book is excellent, for a work from 1914. I'm reading an original edition, so that's a bonus. The only complaint I have is this: He goes very well into overview of the royal period, and into the culture of the early Republic, and promptly skips over the actual action of the fall of the kings! However, it is good.

so far, this book is eminently readable. Quite impressive.

Huh. Never thought I'd go for an anachronistic, hard-boiled detective-esque story set in Ancient Rome. And yet, I'm liking it.
