I would love to read a female protagonist psychological suspense/horror novel with no spousal abuse, sexual assault, or child abuse but I guess I’m asking for too much even though it’s rare to find those 3 things in the same genre with a male protagonist.

The closer I get to the middle of the book the harder it gets to pause. It becomes much more mysterious and switching perspective between the progress of building the world fair and the progress of holmes’ murderous work keeps me engaged. Loving this book so far!!

Dry in some areas but full of historic facts I did not expect. Dense with detail and no fluff, which I love.

Re-reading one of my all time favorites

disappointed and dismayed that in this huge book with page after page of sources and bibliography the author felt that american hero and activist Storme DeLarverie is mentioned only once and in one sentence in the entire book. Storme lived at the chelsea and their story deserves to be told.

Normally I read to help me sleep but this is scaring me!!! Definitely will make you nervous to go to sleep lol. I had to get up and check on my daughter just to be sure!!!

Tension is HIGH throughout so far. A total page turner! I definitely could read this in one gulp all in one day but I’m gonna pace myself.

Just arrived! I can finally start some of my research for my podcast. looking at reviews, it seems people either love or hate this book! Not sure what my reaction will be but I'm glad I finally got it in the mail!

Found huge amounts of dried blood in my book. I purchased it used from amazon and flipped through the book before i started reading but... i dunno how but i missed all the blood. it obscured some passages to say the least.

still pretty violent and in the same place in time as 30 or so pages ago. the story slowed way down but i feel like it's about to pick back up. tension is building and i'm impatient for the end.

So the pace is a little slower now toward the middle of the book. A lot less violence in these middle passages but the tension is still high. Really looking forward to seeing where this ends and finding it hard to put down!

wooo okay so this book hits the ground running. you're pretty much put right in the middle of the action from the first paragraph. loving the book so far but having to take it in small doses. there is some triggering and depressing content in the first several pages that brought tears to my eyes.

I finally reached the last book and I’m nearly done and had to stop for several weeks. Knowing that I’m about to complete one of my favorite series and there will be no more after this breaks my heart. Granny Weatherwax reminds me of my dad who has passed away because she was one of his favorite characters. Finishing this series is so bittersweet.
