Writing: ugh its still not great but whatever

This leg of the story is much better than the previous part, but still some POVs feel hard to get through (Sigzil and Adolin rn)
Szeth is definitely the most compelling character arc so far and the mysteries that are unraveling make WaT a definite page turner
I still have qualms with Sanderson's writing (the excessive use of modern language 'goobering', middle school humor, and lack of subtlety} but its more bearable

Day 2, mid day 3

The prose has improved marginally but the dialogue is still feels off and unnatural

I am entertained tho so there’s that

Everyone’s mission feels interesting but I’m the most interested in Szeth and Kaladin’s at the moment.

Everyone is raving about that shower sex scene but I was like 🙄🙄🙄🙄the entire time. Am I just a hater??

Day 1 out of 10.

-this whole book taking place in the span of the 10 days leading up to the contest of champions is insane

Now you see Raboniel is the reason why I can't fully root for the humans because like everyone is suffering in this ETERNAL WAR
Dalinar is really just standing around like "I gotta do SOMETHING!" for 1000 pgs lol

Part 3
OK, this section was much more interesting! Although we just left Adolin stranded in Lasting Integrity huh? haha It's been 300 pgs and we haven't gone back! lol

I've seen reviews talking about how the science aspect of this book is boring, but I enjoy this subplot; it gives the world so much more depth.

Idk I'm trying to like Venli, and I find the flashbacks informative but I don't like that girl!

Part 2
-I think the quality of writing in Rhythm of War has gone significantly down since WOK and dialogue sometimes takes me out of the adventure. I hope that's not the case in WInd and Truth
-I do like the storylines in this book a little better than in Oathbringer but some characters (like Lirin) feel frustrating
-but the overtaking of Urithiru and the reveal about the sibling were v good.

Richard Powers' attempt at writing Black characters speaking AAVE reads like he asked ChatGPT to write dialogue for him and Chatgpt just added the word "mofo" to the end of every sentence.

this is so sciencey this time around, I love it. lol
I'm glad Szeth is in prison because the way Oathbringer ended I was like wtf? really?

also everyone is losing their minds and this truly NOT the time.

I know Brandon's great writing flaw is that he overexplains/reexplains things over and over but I'm kinda glad for it cuz roughly 5000 pages into this series and I'm like who? what? where? I can't keep up lol

and only yesterday I was having the same thoughts and feelings about the ethics of gratitude (or call it what you will) omg this book is great.
