It's... A lot

72 letters - BLOWN. AWAY. honestly. Such intricate concepts together. Golems and reversal of male and female genetics. Social reforms, eugenics. It's a lot on a relatively small number of pages. Would deserve a whole book methinks. Only critique is that there are literally no women characters to be seen and I don't quite know how to feel about that.

A Simple Composition - 3 stars. it's been a couple days and I don't remember much. I'm sure it was intricate but in the end I didn't care.

Night Garden - 4 stars. a face off. it was fun. I found it interesting that the cobra was 'she'.

only the skipped remain now (Siege and Earthly Pleasures)

Didi - 2 stars. Didn't like it, felt pointless

Laughter artist - 3 stars. Wasn't sure if laughter artist was a metaphor or not

House is a body - wtf stars. I guess self-destruction born out of inactivity

Wedding season - 3 stars. Read twice, sensatory descriptions, meandering. Are they travelling? Why? The wedding realisation hurt

Neighbors - 5 stars. Oooof. Hard read. Generational cycles and unwillingness to see what's right in front of you

Blindness 3 stars ... Enjoyed reading it, didn't really get it

Mourners 4 stars ... Very raw grief

My brother at the station 4 stars ... How to love without smothering

It's veeeery slow but I'm enjoying that. Currently on first day of classes

only Marigold and You You You left. they are very unappealing though so I might just call it a day

Sarah Enni's story - 2.5⭐, very good atmosphere
Beautiful Poison by Cindy Pon - 4⭐, can't decide between 3.5 and 4, I think it was ambitious and did well but the conversation between Mei Feng and the goddess was like a fist to the face
Death Knell by Victoria Schwab - 5⭐, absolutely loved it
Sera by Nicola Yoon - 3.5⭐, I enjoyed the form of the story (counting down important moments from Sera's life)

Blood Imuriv by Renee Ahdieh - 3⭐
- Christine Ricci's prompt was highly specific and her contribution was trying so hard to be funny ("You should try these 7 easy steps to not be evil, number 5 will surprise you" type of thing) and didn't fit the story at. all.
Gwen and Art and Lance by Soman Chainani - 3⭐, but entirely differently than Blood Imuriv
Shirley & Jim by Susan Dennard - 1⭐, I disliked this veery much

Finally started! So far it's great

The necromancy is fascinating but the writing is often eye-rollingly juvenile

This is just so superior to the Birthday Girl it almost feels like a joke to compare those two. (except the racism/colonialism which I could def do without)

Not really sure I like it ?? The Drafts were a real 'wtf is happening and am I even still interested' for me

The prose is obnoxious but I'm intrigued so far

The stakes are already through the roof

Good to know I am still capable of reading, it just takes the right book

I'm both reading translated version of the book and the audiobook, and lemme tell you, it is a sub par experience either way

Exhalation was cute and so unique, I love it
What's expected of us didn't really make sense to me? I'm gonna have to think abt it more
