In an effort to stop supporting Amazon, after I fiinish this book, I'll be moving to StoryGraph. ✌️

I'm not always in the mood for fantasy, if Murakami can be classified that way, but I was...only this book is off to a pretty slow start and I'm losing interest.

I listened to 5% of this, and maybe that's my problem. I l give all sorts of things a chance, but the narrator (I'm not sure if it was Kurt Schlichter or someone else) had this tone that just screamed, "I WANT TO ARGUE" and I'm much more into "Let's have a conversation. Here are my points and proof for said points". I have read Kurt Schlichter's fiction before and loved it. I might give this another shot.

I did t get far enough into this to see if I truly related to it but I couldn't get any further because of all the cussing. Listen, I say lots of bad words. I just hate when anything feels forced and I got the impression that the author was trying to be super extra chill and relatable and that just didn't do it for me. In fact it irritated me into DNF-ing this.

Alright, I just read in another review that there was a study that found that women had an easier time reaching orgasm while wearing socks (at least in an imaging machine)...and apparently the author excluded that, opting for more of a self-acceptance approach.

That's the type of interesting fact I was hoping for from this book, so I'm relieved to have read that review so I can avoid wasting my time.

I thought about not adding this to my GR, but I value the book count over potential talk at work, and also I want to be able to say how I feel about it, so here it is.

I'm 10% in and so far the author is emphatically telling the audience that their anatomy and sexuality is *normal*, which is nice but I'm fairly confident with myself and didn't all that. I hope most other women didn't need it either.

I acknowledge that I'm in a book rut...but these characters seem so superficial to me. Not much of a plot in the two short stories I've read. I'll keep plowing through, hoping for the best.

I keep waiting for the main character to...not be stupid. I hope in the next 60 there's a huge plot twist that redeems her. I'm not holding my breath though.

I keep seeing such great reviews for this book... Am I the only one struggling? I'm over halfway through and with each abruptly ending segment, I internally scream, "What is the point????"

I have to finish to see if anything ever ties all these loose ends together but this is the slowest I've dragged through a book in a long time.

Having a difficult time keeping focused, as my eyes are contantly rolling because the main character is...so unrelatable. One good book suggestion away from DNFing this one.
