2 essays down, just highlighted the f u c k out of ‘Pain is Normal’. This is so good and so sad? Admittedly (and it seems pessimistic), I can’t help but feel this sort of material isn’t groundbreaking to us girls and women; until men start actively reading it, taking an interest and changing their perspective rather than assume women are attacking aLL mEN, those societal barriers will continue to flourish.

What a beautiful, heart wrenching book this is. It’s comforting to read that, for someone other than me, HP manages to chase away demons and bring peace⚡️

Finally getting some time with this book.

Protagonist is trying to deal with her overbearing mother who is attempting to save her:
“When we get home, she runs me a bath. Blobs of lavender and rose oil bob around the top. I sit and try to let my body soften in the water but then a big gob of period comes out. I watch it unfurl between my legs, like a brown fern. It turns the whole bath brackish.”

I cackled 🤣

This guy is amazing, the DETAIL in which he remembers events from 10+ years ago is admirable. 20 hours of Obama’s voice as well, can’t complain

This book is beautiful, I’ve never read anything like it

I am devouring this book - Westover’s prose is moving and addictive. I feel as though I have a clear picture of her family life, her house, her workplace and even her physical appearance. Deliberately dragging out reading it because I don’t want it to end
