Started reading a section each week on my sabbath. So far it’s amazing

The first section was all about ceasing. The biggest point for me was ceasing to be caught up in the cultures expectations and systems. We are a people who live in, but outside of the world’s values and systems. And the sabbath is the antidote to a world that rushes after the wind

The first few chapters are fantastic. Giving a glimpse into the cultural relevance of parables, and why Jesus taught the way he did. I didn’t expect this to help me in my own communication, but it has!

The first chapter is gold. Seeing love as a virtue, and that virtues are attained through imitation and practice is brilliant. Also the distinguishing between the loves, not seeing them as bad, but as different, is important in today’s culture. I’m excited to see how this is made practical.

We live in a kingdom of desire. So let’s set our desires on the ultimate one who gives rest to our restless hearts

Anointing and gifting are both from god. Gifting can be corrupted, anointing can’t. Anointing is the specific purpose that God has for you/your church.

Chase the anointing

Gonna put this on hold for now as this is a required reading for my masters in the fall

So far this book is amazing. It’s exactly what I need in a time of rest between the ministry seasons
