Seems interesting, but the writing feels really sluggish. Hoping it picks up

Really good so far. Not anti-tech, but moreso tech-aware. I like the way he breaks down wisdom into moral,emotional and theological, and how our phones are distorting the truth of reality

Super good so far. I liked the explanation of how culture continually changes, why it changes, and the seeds that caused it to change so rapidly since the reformation and artists being the new priests. Really cool thoughts

Wasn’t a huge fan of the whole “medieval war games” idea at first. But the twists kept it engaging enough to start getting to the payoff. Excited to see how this ends

Dense. But really good. Seeing the the creation narrative through the lens of the tabernacle was something I haven’t done before. Super good stuff

Figured I’d get around to this one finally since a couple others are reading it too 😏

Really good so far. First chapter was just exploring anthropology and the difference between Christianity and atheism. I’m curious if he goes into other worldviews like Islam as that’s another rising religion with a unique worldview, or if he keeps it between these two.

But so far, really good

Right when I was starting to lose interest it picked right back up again. It has a very hunger games narrative right now, but hoping it’ll find its own identity as it gets more into it

It’s a little too FAQ for me… and holy references Batman… I get this is a book for teens, but why feel the need to connect every point to something in pop culture. It feels like grandma found Tik tok and is catching up on every relevant movie from the last 20 years.

Frick this book is good! It keeps subverting my expectations (and taking away characters I thought were gonna be important 💀)

This better become live action one day

Do I have time to read this with all the other books I need to read? No. Is it too good to stop reading? Absolutely

Super good so far. Loved the argument that hope needs imagination, faith and passion. And that biblical hope is always centred on love. Also liked that self-hopes weren’t seen as negative, but rather as subordinate to biblical hope.

Shocking as it may sound…

I think I’m burned out from Kara Powell books. Future focused church must’ve done me in

Barely into the story and I’m already fuming at the antagonists.

Currently trying to read one fiction for every two non fiction.
So far this setting is so cool. Very gritty and sci-fi blend. Excited to see where the story goes

First fiction in a long time. And an absolute banger at that. So dark yet has flickers of hope throughout.

Knowing these kinds of stories, you can tell it’s going to be a bittersweet ending. But we’ll see

Honestly I’m starting to enjoy this more. Getting into the students world now instead of looking from the outside was what I was disliking about this book so far. But almost 10 chapters in and I’ve been won over.
