Proverbs 2: Seek Wisdom as a hidden treasure; walk in the paths of justice; it will save you from the way of evil.

Proverbs 1: "fools despise wisdom" says it all! From the writings of Solomon we are told that Wisdom ("she") will laugh at us in our distress if we have failed to seek and heed her teachings.

Day 28: St Joseph was hidden and silent. God is found in silence. As we grow closer to Joseph in silent prayer contemplation, he helps us draw nearer to God.

Day 27: Bono(U2) and St Augustine both commented on the human condition, seeking paradise lost-"I still haven't found what I'm looking for." Christ's sacrifice on the cross, found in the holy Eucharist, restores us to paradise.

Day 26: We can learn from St Joseph's life, and also his death. Because he trusted God in faith, we know that, although surely sad, his death was superabundant in peace and confidence in the Lord's plan. He died a holy death.

Day 25: “To contemplate the face of Christ...with Mary...with the enthusiasm of the new evangelization”(JPII) When we pray the Rosary we find Mary, with Joseph, gazing on Jesus our Saviour. #thatmanisyou #stjosephnovena #dailydevotions stjosephnovena.com/day-25

Day 24: Luke tells us the holy family offers two turtledoves(Lk2:24), the offering of a poor family(Lv12:8). They weren't rich or extravagant; they made do and gave what they could. And the Lord blessed them. #moneyisatoolnotgod

Day 23: The hidden face of Jesus. Jesus wasn't hidden from Joseph, each day he was called to love and care for his son who was the one true living God, made man. I too am called to love my children as I would love Christ.

Day 22: Joseph the warrior was chosen to wage the most important battle in human history-to defend Jesus and Mary from forces of evil that oppose salvation of souls of mankind. Read Rev12:4-5, imagine being that father. You are.

Day 21: Jesus' humble origins surprised many, especially the most learned of the faithful. This is a vital understanding in order to enter more deeply into relationship with the Holy Family.

Day 20: Sainthood and fatherhood. "Love makes saints..." Joseph loved God, Jesus and Mary. He was a humble father who did what was asked of him. He did this for the greater glory of God.

Day 19: Work, toil and bearing fruit for my family. St Joseph worked to provide for his family and fulfill God's call. He also sacrificed his business to follow the Lord's command to move to Nazareth and protect the Holy Family.

Day 17: When Mary and Joseph couldn't find Jesus they were very worried, anxious, fearful. How do we feel if we lose sight of Christ? This important event is 5th Joyful Mystery of Our Lady's Rosary and 7th Sorrow of St Joseph.

Day 16: Obedience in the Holy Family. The perfect child Jesus perfectly obeyed his earthly father Joseph. Joseph must have been so aligned with God's will to never ask anything contrary of Jesus. I pray to be half as honorable.

Day 14: The greatest gift that we men can receive is the gift of fatherhood, and it comes not only from God but also through (truly through) our wives. Joseph shows deep gratitude for his greatest gift, where could I do better?

Day 13: Purity of heart can clear away the clouds of sin, allowing us to see clearly the truth of faith. “Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God”(Mt5:8). Seeing God is living free in the truth of Christ's love.

Day 12: "The joy of the Lord was their strength!" St Joseph led the Holy Family through unimaginable trials, sufferings, uncertainty, and storms. They knew they were on a mission for God. How do we remember that in tough times?

Day 11: Mary - Mother of God, Immaculate Conception, "spouse of the Holy Spirit", "Living Tabernacle", Ark of the New Covenant, dwelling place of the "Author of Life". Joseph - LUCKIEST MAN WHO EVER LIVED because HE married HER.

Day 10: Most Chaste Spouse - "...without spot or wrinkle or any such thing..."(Eph.5:27). Marital union is a holy bond of flesh AND spirit. Joseph and Mary's chaste union highlights this spiritual aspect. He guarded her purity.

Day 9: "...unwilling to put her to shame..." Joseph was ready to bear the shame of walking out on his family lest Mary be put to shame for adultery. May I be blessed to show even a fraction of this mercy to my family. #thatmanisyou #stjosephnovena #dailydevotions stjosephnovena.com/day-9

Day 8: A great trust in God's providence. Mary and Joseph had an unbelievable amount of trust in God - they had no idea how the story would unfold, yet they trusted. God can do great things with His faithful servants.

Day 7: Total abandonment. "When we lose ourselves, we find ourselves." Imagine what God could accomplish through us if we could completely abandon our lives to His will! Joseph clearly had this, I pray we may find it too.

Day 5: "Do Whatever He Tells You"-Mary, Mother of God. As King David built a temple for God to reside with the people, St Joseph built a home for Jesus and the Holy Family. He "was the pioneer of Christian fatherhood..."

Day 4: To be "A Man After God's Own Heart" I must lay down my own will and seek His will. In God's call to take Mary as wife and the times he was told to save Jesus and Mary from peril, St Joseph was obedient to God.

Day 3: Comparison, competition leads us away from Christ. Satan tempted Jesus with power and riches. If we reject worship/love of money/success God fills us with so much more. St Joseph shows the way.

Day 2: There are no recorded words from St Joseph but he teaches us in silence by his actions. Through him we learn the essential and fundamental virtue of humility, which is the opposite of pride.

Day 1: Joseph was chosen to play an essential role in God's plan of salvation. He serves as an important model of fatherhood for us. We, too, have been chosen by God as part of His plan.

Day 41: Because you are unique, the way you are meant to achieve God's purpose for your life will almost always look much different than it does for someone else. Not understanding this can quickly lead to frustration, fatigue, and failure. This can often manifest as envy, which we know is deadly, but mostly in a spiritual sense. Don't insult God by envying others. Stay focused on finding and fulfilling God's plan.
