Good story - not sure 'who dunnit' yet if anything but the details are slowly revealing themselves... though I also don't feel a great deal of sympathy for any of the characters, except maybe the main character's daughter Harriet, who will be key in the finale...

Well I didn't get this version of the Aztecs and the Incas at school, that's for sure... fascinating...

So far this is quite a dense book with lots of well researched background - a lot different from my history lessons at school about the discovery on the Americas, Cortes and Pizarro - looking forward to the rest - a well balanced approach, these guys weren't saints but let's see....

So far, with the author still well upstream it just seems a catalogue of failed former glories along the river for the people who still live there, but the scenic descriptions are great of the wildness of the whole area, particularly the first chapter.

Very interesting read and well written. It's getting progressively more violent... but how we got to this point is interesting...

I have barely started this and it's fantastic.

Initially this is good, I'm enjoying the first novel of this author having read the factual autobiography.

Another great story of very brave individuals who gave everything. Still plenty to go to see how it unfolds.

Great read on the inside of the events as they occurred - I was really pleased to see Mark get back to winning ways and now I can see more about what it took to do it, and how he thinks while racing - fascinating... shame there's no cliff-hanger, I kind of know how it ends!

I have always admired Gareth as a player and am aware of parts of the rest of his life especially the triathlon side and the struggles he had had with his sexuality. I'm looking forward to reading his version, the only one that really matters.

Fascinating and very well researched. I have a B.Sc in a related subject so finding out the big picture behind the discoveries is quite frankly astonishing, and how the knowledge we take for granted today was pieced together and also the arguments for and against what turns out to be the truth. Looking forward to the remainder...

This is a captivating and astonishing story... you know you are hooked when you are wondering what happens when you're not reading it, but as a keen triathlete myself I have wanted to read this story for a while and it matches everything I was expecting... I already know where it ends up but good grief, what a journey...

Very Patterson... I love this series of books and have read every one over the years. This is building, just like they always do.

I read Martyn's column in 220 magazine so a pleasure to read the extended highlights of his triathlon misadventures -been there myself...

Early days in this - the Germans have arrived (sorry, spoiler alert...!) and he is just finding his way - I am fascinated by this, so far, really good.

Progressing through the Lisbon chapter regarding the earthquake in 1755. Already starting to see the changes brought about to move the assumption that God was in charge and the enlightenment this brings with practical solutions, even if they were unpopular at the time.

Looking forward to this - great promise like the other Damien Lewis books I have read already...

Very good so far - a bit og humour to bring relevance - you don't need to be a geek to enjoy this...

So far, a fascinating insight into German identity by those on the fringes and what it meant to them, and also an acknowledgement that this was fraught with issues and their own treatment by the German hierarchy. Really good.
