Essentially a murder mystery, where everyone is all about grafting plants to themselves. Also, you can't forget the mountain sized leviathans wandering about when it gets a bit wet, like some inevitable doom just out of sight.

Super weird premise, but I'm totally here for it.

Did not expect this level of satire from a Joe Abercrombie novel.

About as character driven a story as it gets.

To give you some perspective at the evil torment that is my TBR pile, I bought this in 2019 and only now find I am reaching it in the backlog.

Its good but could do with a bit more badassary to justifying all the running around and training chat, tho expect this will change shortly.

I rarely read Le Guin but that is a failing on my part. While I'm not one for the classic fanstay style anymore, those writers who set the foundation of the genre are always fascinating. Her writting is beautiful and you just drift along with it.

Seems like the author is rewriting The Name of the Wind, which tbf is not a bad thing. Anything to fill that Kingkiller hole at this point.

Reminds me of The Stand a great deal.

Went into this blind and its heavy with the slow melancholy drift to the end of the world vibes.

Sci fi from 30s doesn't really hold up well. Interesting but seriously dated.

Solid writting so far. Characters are nicely developing, let us see how this goes.

One of those books you have sitting around for ages and it takes a kick to actually read and then you end enjoying. Love the setting, will see how it goes from here.

A bit simplistic.

Rereading the Murderbot Diaries as there is just something about the idea of lazy MURDER machines that just want to watch tv and be left alone that makes me giggle in a totally non 30+ man way.

This is enjoyably intricate. Far from what I normally read but it's addictive.

Simple things make me happy and the existance of a magic school is top tier book buying criteria as far as I'm concerned.

So 200 odd pages in and finding they are still skirting around the edges of one I'm despairing it might not be a major plot point. I need my magic school shenanigans now! Rightous annoyance.

Time I put a dent in all my half read books. Started this forever ago and put it down so starting again. Let's see how it goes.

Sooo many bulging penises. I mean.. they are everywhere. It's like describing someone new goes brown hair, blue eyes and bulging penis.

Violent and fun scifi mixed with death and depravity. What happens when you strip the humanity out of the human condition. People are flesh, they serve a purpose or don't. They don't exist in and of themselves to any great degree... but yeah penises.. so fucking many.

Been meaning to get around to finishing this for ages and will review it then but this collection is goooood folks. Not the greatest prose and some unusual narrative choices but goooood.

It has a sense of strange silent shock. Unsettling everyday life with sharp point of horror. Hopefully have it done by tomorrow and will like pick up the author's earlier collection of short stories soon after.

Millionth reread.

This is my 3rd of 4th read through, going for the audiobook version again. Rupert Degas's narration is one of the greatest audio experiences in existence. Always a joy.

This is a real pleasure.

Discovering it is a trilogy has made me happy.

Will be addressing people by their full names at all times moving forward.

So far so good.
