Growing up as I did in the shadow of the Capitol, I really appreciate this autobiography of this fine and funny journalist. His patriotism and intregrity shines like a new-born star. If Herb Block was still alive, I'd vote for him for President, provided of course he ran as a Democrat. Totally recommended.

Dr. Larson provides the basis of my belief,
after reading several histories for and against, that Mary Surratt was indeed guilty of conspiracy to assassinate President Lincoln. Her work seems deeply researched, and has inspired me to read further on this fascinating subject. Although Mrs. Surratt had various alibis, she choose not to use them. Perhaps, deep down, Mrs. Surratt agreed as well.

Very interesting account of an Afghan Pashtun woman who is raised in America and spends much of her adult life retracing her roots. Insightful in that it gives the reader some idea of the cultures in Afghanistan.

I guess I am an aviation weenie, in that I've read a number of WWII bio's, the latest of which is "Unbroken" (outstanding bio), by Laura Hilldebrand. Jackie C. was, IMO a real pioneer. She was well connected with Capital Hill, and broke the sound barrier as a civilian (I believe) in a F104 or F86. She was also good friends with Chuck Yeager. I'm presently reading to find out more about this free-spirited aviator.

No fluff here! Dr. Berger tells it like it is. This book speaks directly to the addict's soul.
