Man I hate seeing Gudvarr's perspective! It just makes me so angry. He's such a spoiled little baby.

I am sure nothing will go wrong by resurrecting a dead wolf god and putting a thrall collar on it... When will Elvar learn that enslaving people will never be the right play.

As for Orka's side of things, I really hope she finds her son. She's gone through a lot of pain and suffering. Lif has matured since the first book for sure. If this were the first book he would have went and got himself killed.

Its beena ling time since I read the first book in this series. I forgot how dense each chapter is. Super interesting that it only follows one character at a time.

The ending of the book went quite quick. I was expecting Lord Verminaard and the Queen of Darkness to be harder to take down, but all it took was a touch from Goldmoon to make the Queen retreat and Verminaard lost because of his helmet and losing his blessing....

Tanis just get with Laurana!! 😭

Getting through the slow swamp part was so worth it. The whole rest of book one focusing on Xak Tsaroth was incredibly written. Bupu was the cutest. Don't even get me started on the Dragon fight. I was so heartbroken hearing that Goldmoon was just a pile of ash on the floor and was so incredibly sad for Riverwind. I thought he was going to end himself.

I was pretty mad to see Tas and Flint get so drunk it almost ended both of their lives, but I guess to their luck it saved themselves and the entire team. Tas finding out the dragon was a wooden puppet and using it as a distraction was a phenomenal idea. I did not enjoy all the repeating conversation about swamps up until they reached their location though... al the entire real dragon scene, absolutely crazy.

Quite a lot happened in these percents. I am beginning to really appreciate Goldmoon as a character and as a person. She's extremely elegant, courteous, and understanding. I can see why Riverwind loves her and protects her. She definitely feels like the true leader of the party, even if the rest of them see Tanis as the head. Her thoughtfulness just edges her out ahead of him for me.

27% in.... this book is strange. At this point I'm most interested in Tanis and Kitiara. I'd like to see them meet again.
