wow this is incredibly boring so far.

It's always quite weird reading a book set in your own city, even if it takes place in Victorian times 😅

Also, I'm assuming this gets good at some point because so far it is fairly middling.

Maybe I've just had a long day but this chapter, "The Great Caliban" is absolutely fucking indecipherable 😵‍💫

I really don't know why I bought this book considering the only thing I'm really squeamish about is EYE TRAUMA 🙄

There are so many inaccuracies and omissions in this book and I'm only on page 32!

"Carrie" being described as a slasher? Making out like zombie movies didn't exist prior to 1943 when "White Zombie" was released in 1932?

DNF at the start of chapter 10. Reading about people drinking tea just isn't very interesting 🤷🏻‍♀️

The writing is SO BAD. It's like the author has never actually met another person before. The concept is intriguing though so I'll probably finish it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I like Miéville's fiction and I want to know about the Russian Revolution so hopefully this will be the book for me 😅 (The last book I tried to read on the subject was so dry it was like eating sand; I only got to page 20.)
