No, this is not for me.

Despite the promising synopsis, and the interesting first 15% of the book, now I am bored. So bored, in fact, that if it doesn't get better in the next 10%, I might just DNF the book.

So far, it's interesting. I'm hoping for at least a 3.5 stars read.

Ok, but why am I enjoying this? Compared to my other recent reads, this one has decent writing. Hoping that it will be at least a 4★ read.

Marianne never deserved Colonel Brandon, and Elinor should have been the one to marry him in the end of the book.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book... I'm leaning towards a DNF but I feel the need to finish it, considering it's only 200 pages long.

This is a horror book, why are we talking about Drusilla's bodice??? She is 13 years old--a child.

The way this book is written is atrocious. It can only be compared to TikTok language.

Unaware cannibalism? I don’t know how I feel, other than being repulsed by it.

The language, ugh… it’s killing that one functioning brain cell I have left after a long day.

I get it, but I am also extremely bored...

OMG!!!! The action is stressing me out. Literally at the edge of my seat!!!!

I adore this David! This is the character development I wanted to read about.

I am sad to say that up until now I find this book to be boring. First of all, there are a lot of characters that serve almost nothing to the plot. Secondly, there are a lot of instances where the revelations are told instead of shown. Lastly, nothing has really happened.

This is a really interesting book. I can’t wait to see how it holds up by the end, but I am hoping it will be a new 5 stars.

So much has happened, and yet, at the same time nothing happened. A lot of descriptions instead of actions. It’s a shame because I thought I’d enjoy the book a lot more.

I’m not vibing with the writing, nor the switch in timelines and characters. Fingers crossed that it gets better.

Ok, so… I didn’t expect to cry.

The story is progressing (simultaneously) in an interesting and dejected way, which makes me intrigued to see what happens next. However, there are some minor details that I picked up on and don’t particularly like, however, that does not render me uninterested.

It’s quite the interesting concept, that’s for sure. I am beginning to think I might be able to read more horror books if I don’t get nightmares from this one.

I’m intrigued, but I also need to read this book strictly during daylight.

I am enjoying the writing of R. F. Kuang a lot more than I anticipated. Considering some of the reviews that call the book confusing, I am glad that I don’t seem to have the same issue, or at least, I don’t find issue at this point.
