I’m so, so bored and sad about it.

Is the rut finally broken?!

Finally committed after all these years and so far sadly not feeling it at all

Counted down the days to this for months, then somehow managed to entirely forget its existence once the time was finally nigh. So glad I spotted it at the store. Collins pulling me in like a sucker, as usual.

I had no idea I needed a book like this in my life, but I most definitely did.

I was pretty well sucked into this, all intrigue and mystery. Then I realized it’s a pretty by the book beauty and the beast retelling and all that mystery vanished. Sad.

I expected a slow start to this since all of Young’s adult books have had a pretty extended buildup, but this one is almost painfully boring. I hate saying it because she’s my favorite, but I’m giving it another 40 pages to pick up.

Somehow didn’t piece together who the author is. I loved Thieves, but hated Remnant, so hopefully this reads like the former.

I almost closed this and grabbed another book from the stack multiple times in the first 60 ish pages because I had no idea what was even happening. Glad I stuck with it though because I blew through the next hundred. Maybe it would be clear if I’d read the original trilogy, but I tried once years ago and couldn’t get into it.

So far, way better than anticipated after not enjoying A Far Wilder Magic. Has the atmospheric read I’m after.

Why you gotta do me like that Ms. Jones 😩 it’s so good. And for some reason triggered that damn Backstreet Boys song in my brain and it won’t stop. IT’S TEARING UP MY HEART WHEN I’M WITH YOU.

Going to do a full run reread of Adventures and hope that pulls me out of this slump so I can jump back to some novels that aren’t of the graphic variety. Not a bad way to try to solve an unfortunate problem.

I am.. not sure 😅 maybe I’m too worn out from days of ren faire and back to school, but I’ve been struggling to fully figure out what is going on. I get the underlying theme, but the world doesn’t feel clear. I’m feeling Ffion’s bitterness though and interested, so I’ll keep going. Bitter af at that loss that happened already though. I knew it was going to happen, didn’t make it any better.

My intent was to do a reread of the series so I’ll finally jump into Bees. I quickly realized I’ve just read these books too many times since I was 13 and can’t commit to so much again. I may finish this one, but I’ll definitely be finding a series synopsis (though I remember most things) and committing just to Bees.

I must be in some kind of rut after dnf’ing and disliking so many books in a row, right? Rereading a favorite hopefully to the rescue.

Is it me? Am I in some kind of rut? How is every book I pick up boring the crap out of me? I finally picked this up and committed after it being on my tbr for years because I was feeling like I desperately needed something more adult. Almost 100 pages in and it’s reading like it skipped past even YA, all the way to juvenile. I don’t know if I’m going to continue.

Soo, when does it get good? I’m so bored 😩

I’m so confused. I feel like I’ve enjoyed nothing about this, yet I read 145 pages in one sitting. Idk what’s going on. Victor is awful. There’s barely any of Eli, but he sucks too. Sydney is slightly interesting. Everything feels flat and drawn out.

I picked this up wanting that atmospheric story like The Poison Study and was disappointed the first couple of chapters thinking that accomplishment must have been a one off, but the atmosphere and mystery in this slowly creep in on you. Mara is also great at dual pov and winding the two together seamlessly. I’m still not loving the fmc, have been reading her chapters just to get to Nico’s.

I’ve been in desperate need of a break from the same stories told over and over with slight differences, so I was excited when I found this buried in my tbr list. Unfortunately it’s been rather boring and still has touches of those stories. The last chapter was an improvement, so hopefully it’s on an uphill climb to all the 5 star reviews I saw.

This would have been another one sitting read through if I can’t forced myself to stop.

I’m not loving this so far. All the characters feel flat, with the fmc being rather unlikable. Hoping the world will pick up.

I somehow remembered absolutely nothing about this story even though I both recently read it and enjoyed it. Weird, usually only completely space on middle of the road books. The beginning came back to me once I started, but still a whole blank on the rest.

This is slow going so far. I normally like multiple pov, but every one here seems to just be for the two characters featured to lust after each other, which is meh.

She really did a great job at hiding that reveal. I had no idea until it happened the first time and didn’t even realize it was coming already this time. It made up for Auren’s being obvious.

I really wanted to wait for the last book to drop before my reread, but I’ve been in a horrible rut I can’t break, so here’s hoping a series I love can do it
