This is the first book I’ve read set in the post-pandemic world, and the fictional author Hannah’s emails with the militant former policeman turned terrifying stalker get a lot more gruesome than I was expecting at first—it’s both dreadful and masterful in the way the book starts out slow and then builds in pace and tension until it is hurtling towards a conclusion I can barely wait for.
