FREE EBOOKS 12/26-12/30
A sort of pay it forward concept to encourage some extra giving before year’s end. Download the ebook versions of both my novels for free. If the gesture moves you, and if it fits your end of year budget, consider sending an extra $13 (the regular cost of both of these ebooks) to your favorite charity. Your choice, your private action, all on the honor system.
Happy reading, Happy New Year.

The ebook version of my new novel inBLUE is free on Amazon through September 22nd.

inBLUE, told through a series of vignettes that intersect to reveal a single narrative and the secret of how the lives of the characters are connected by a tiny edit to reality.

I have been absent for a bit. Well wishes to all. Last week, I got a chance to connect with readers at the Collingswood Book Festival, the first in person with readers in a long time. Right now, my energy is focused on finishing my latest work. I am considering going the traditional publishing route this time. Advice and contacts are always welcome.

7/11 UPDATE
Tomorrow is my birthday, a good day for a self-deprecating contest. Send a message, guess my age. Right answers will be entered to win a free e-book copy of my short story collection Overcast. I will give 5 copies away. (U.S. only, Amazon doesn’t let me gift outside of U.S.). Check out the Origins of the Muse Tweet for another photo of me.

7/5 UPDATE:

Reading McDowell's The Elementals. This is a fitting and timely selection as this week I am also recording an 80s horror segment with producer Kim Selby for the Origins of the Muse podcast.

5/27 Update

Reading Winter in the Blood, James Welch, and re-visiting a few Langston Hughes poems.

Writing the new work is coming slow. It always does, until the switch is somehow flicked and the words spill out. It always happens that way, just can never tell when.

Hard to believe producer Kim Selby and I have released 10 episodes of the podcast Origins of the Muse already.

What's New - 5/6

Finished reading the Matisse Stories - superb.

Also finished an article on how important readers as advocates are for indie authors. Do you see yourself as an advocate?

Posting the audio version of Chapter 3/inBLUE as a bonus episode this week on the podcast Origins of the Muse.

4/20 UPDATE

Reading The Matisse Stories by A.S. Byatt.

Started writing another work a few weeks ago, maybe. I think I have another one in me, but it is a hard start, hard to tell. I fall in love with characters in my brain and stories shape around them. This one is not completely in focus.

(4/6) WHAT'S NEW

I just added a few notes about the book Mr. Palomar by Italo Calvino to Goodreads. Producer Kim Selby and I have now posted 6 episodes of our podcast Origins of the Muse, and also posting readings chapter by chapter of my novella inBLUE as bonus episodes. And, after a hiatus, I have started writing a new work, which means I am staring blankly at the screen (that is how it always starts for me).

WHAT'S NEW

Thanks to everyone who downloaded a free copy of my short story collection Overcast. There was a huge response to the free offering and that means a lot.

The next episode of the podcast I co-host, Origins of the Muse, Kim and I will talk about the fiction that influenced us early on. I cover how I was impacted by Something Wicked This Way Comes, Kim talks Clive Barker.

What to say, what to say. Dropped a new episode of the podcast Origins of the Muse last week. Started recording an audio version of my novella inBLUE. Reading the English translation of Mr. Palomar by Italo Calvino. Started outlining a new story. Read, write, repeat.

I hit the 500 friends mark earlier this week and am very grateful. Older friends have read my work, also very grateful for that. If you have not had a chance to read Grayscale or Overcast, a reminder that my novella inBLUE is free to read for now on my website. https://www.author-treilly.com/inblue

2021 ON LIGHTSPEED

The year is flying by, mid February already. Got my list of reads picked out for the rest of the winter, launched the podcast Origins of the Muse with producer Kim Selby, getting ready to provide another fun way to enjoy my free novella inBLUE, and plan to get back to writing next month (if the month doesn't race by without being able to grab hold).

I teamed up with producer Kim Selby on the podcast Origins of the Muse. We talk about growing up outside of Philly in the 80s and early 90s – how that influenced our work today.

In celebration of the new podcast, I am giving away 3 autographed copies of my short story collection Overcast. Send me a message and tell me what inspired you from that time period (books, film, music) for a chance to win a copy.

Writing, Thoughts, Look to Tomorrow

A familiar band once wrote, 'what a long strange trip it's been." Insanity aside, 2021 has been a productive year. I completed a novella, book 3, and I gave it away for free. In fact, I gave most of my work for free this year. It seemed right for 2020, and at least for the beginning of 2021. Thanks for friending, and say Hi when you have a chance. Here's to more words in 2021.

Zoom reading anyone Part 2? Received some great feedback so far. Reposting - Since we are homebound for months more at least, thinking of doing readings of my work on Zoom, inviting other indie authors to read. If you are a reader or author and interested in getting together on Zoom, message me.

Zoom reading anyone? I am inspired by indie musicians and others lately, seeing ways they share their work. I have gotten more comfortable putting myself (not just my writing) out there. Since we are homebound for months more at least, thinking of doing readings of my work on Zoom, inviting other indie authors to read. If you are a reader or author and interested in getting together on Zoom, message me.

Thankful for the people in my life who have been supportive of my writing, not possible without them. Since 2017, I completed one novel, a short story collection and a novella. Writing, like just about everything else in life, can't be accomplished alone. Their moral support, creative input, nuts and bolts editing, helped transform vision to reality. Today, I am making sure I say thank you, thank you, and thank you.
