I am convinced this is nota bad book. Not exactly. The prose is is good and the characters are interesting. So are the happenings. But the back and forth across time seriously kill it.

It sometimes seems more a travelogue than a novel, with only the flimsiest of thematic connections to the plot.

I keep hoping it will pick up pace but who knows. So far I refuse to drop it.

This is definitely one of the most enjoyable fantasy books I've ever read.

I really dislike the way thr book is written. It's not a bad book overall, but ai dislike the vignette style that pervades it. The shirt and long time skips are really jarring and happen really often.

This story reminds me of The Oubliette, also from Warhammer Horror. Like that book, this one concerns itself, so far at least, with the psychological trnaformarion of someone thanks to the combination of external forces and the internal landscape of each individual. Its an interesting read, though both stories suffer a bit from rushing said change.

It's been quite entertaining a read, the characters and the prose are highly enjoyable, and I very much loved that the book avoided the whole training the mc trope for the most part.

Nothing is half so disappointing as authors playing chicken with their plots. If the premise is the book is our MC making a potentially questionable choice, then LET her make the damn choice, don't have some stupid aliens make it for her mid-way through the last book in the series. Its so annoying and -so- common...

Character-driven stories like these are my favourites ones. They tend to explore the setting far better than those consisting only of series of battles.

About halfway with this book and having serious doubts on whether it is worth it to finish. There is absolutely nothing memorable or interesting in this book at all. No great characters, no great prose, no interesting dialogue, nothing but dry and bland and repetitive 'this blew up, then this blew up and all blew up afterwards.'

Seriously.

A very enjoyable book so far. A bit heavy on the telling versus showing but it does not detract too much from it.

I kind of hate how short the chapters of this book are. The constant switch of scene tends to pull me out of things, even if otherwise the book is rather well written and enjoyable.

Its been engaging and well-written so far. Its interesting to learn at last about a figure you hear so often about.

I much enjoy the faster pace of this over its predecessor. And Janus and Pyke definitely make for interesting characters

I really don't know what to think of this book. Most of it is pretty well-written, but at this point there's more intermissions about the past than about the supposedly present-time story...

An interesting mixed bag so far. I like the slow, methodical way Rice builds up the world around the Mayfair witches, but ugh, so far Rowan and Michael are both incredibly lame as far as main characters go.

Not quite as captivating as The Song of Achilles so far, but its still pretty and well-written

"She was Tu'usha, Lady of Marakand, and she did not know why she wept."

This is soon turning to be one of my favourite fantasy universes.

So far a very engaging book. I am almost sorry it is so short

I am quite positive I've never read this book before but some parts of it feel uncannily familiar

I got utterly distracted reading the last book of the Broken Earth, but back on track with this now!

Lovely writing so far, but I have the same peeve I had with the first book in the series. I hate how the author jumps from perspective to perspective with so little warning.

Definitely loving this boo so far.
