So far in this Cinderella retelling, the stepmother and sisters are actually quite loving and supportive. I'm actually quite pleased with that change. I find myself protective of the protagonist's feelings. I know somewhere there will be an over-the-top villain (deliciously so) but I hope it isn't the family.

I really wanted to like this but I'm struggling to finish. Catherine is giving off huge "not like other girls" vibes. After all, she likes horror books and not Jane Austen. I'm thinking Jasper is right that a forbidden dalliance with him is just a distraction from small town boredom. I kind of wish he'd given the cashier at the store a chance.

I think we just met the love interest and I'm not impressed. He's got a lot of arrogance and it's not the kind I find entertaining to be taken down a peg by the hero. No, it's just the annoying kind.

This is such a fun read so far! I'd forgotten romance could be fun and not dramatic.

"What if he didn't write back? Or worse, what if he did?" Dara thought.

Got to love a fellow avoidant as a female MC. And it explains why I'm reading this on a Saturday night and not on a date. :)

The male MC is still way too perfect. We need to get some flaws soon.

The male love interest is a widow still mourning his wife two years later, and his last name is Steadfast! ;) A little too on the nose.
