This is a goddamned heavy book to read

His writing is way too flowery

Love, love, love her language and prose

People say this book is boring but honestly I felt like I was experiencing my ideal vision of my 20s through the eyes of these characters who have more freedom than me. I never moved to New York and I'm in my 20s now, living an uneventful life in the town I grew up in. It was nice to imagine I was living a different kind of life.

Weekends are the only time I'm free from my corporate cage so you best believe I'll be spending it reading as many books as possible.

I keep trying to push ahead with this book but truly, not much happens. It's a very atmospheric novel though with a female perspective that is a refreshing take on the male-dominated literary world. Good palate cleanser after Murakami.

I don't wanna work in a newsroom in Japan after reading this book. Also this book keeps dragging for ages!

Sometimes when I'm acting silly or weak, I think about what these st Clare girls would do to me and I feel ashamed to admit that I often have more in common with the weak, selfish girls at st Clare's. It's embarrassing but it does make me want to be a better person.

The translation feels really natural and probably one of the most seamless ones out there!

It feels too familiar, raw and real. I will go into this without judgement.

I'm getting the same vibes as Stolen Focus and I feel a bit let down.

Loving the characters so far and their witty banter.

I cannot stress again how lucky you are. No rent to pay, no vehicle loan, nothing weighing you down, 2 parents still alive, beloved grandma still alive, good relationship with cousin and living in a city with all basic facilities catered to. No medical issues, no disability, high education, good health…perhaps you are blessed.

I loved the second story "The Invoice". Such simple and elegant prose.

What a trippy, fascinating novel. Kafka-esque but in a Swedish way.

Wonderfully written. Smooth and classy but also full of sadness and grit.

Some stories are just recycled Murakami stories from the past. Hmm....

It's kind of dry so far. :( Is her writing just too academic for me?

I seriously want to watch the show now because I couldn't stop smiling after watching her sing "The Sexy Getting Ready Song". One, Rachel Bloom can really sing. She can hit all the high notes and vibratos, no problem. Secondly, she's really funny and observant in this book. I love how her videos are feminist, subversive and cleverly choreographed. I am hooked.

Going so well so far. I have fallen down a rabbit hole of watching her videos on YouTube and I'm so glad. She is just as funny as I thought she would be.

Life is stressful but going back to middle school is brutal.

THIS IS THE KIND OF STUFF I WANTED FROM THE BOOK. I mean, I rated the book pretty low because the story felt disjointed but finally, we are given all of the Hinterland tales in their full, gory shining splendour. Chefs kiss. ❤️

It's barely been a 100 pages and I'm already crying. Why am I crying? It's too good. It's too wholesome. It's the representation I wish I saw as a child.

I am already feeling that this will be a 5 star read. The emotions are just flowing out of me! I look forward to crying over this novel.

Let it be known to you before you actually buy the physical copy for real that on the very first page, we have the word bukkake. My dude, it's just page one. Calm your tits. (TwT).

OMIGOD I BARELY EVEN STARTED AND I AM JUST SKIMMING THROUGH ABOUT 200 PAGES OF THIS AND I KNOW IT'S ALREADY GOOD. Biracial protagonist...family bonds...Everything about this is screaming a classic. I need to get a physical copy immediately.
