just started. excited to dig into this.

Started this in high school and again in college.

Time to finish it up and move on to more difficult material.

Two initial observations ... unless DKG takes a flashback approach on this, it is mind-boggling to me that she has 700+ pages that START with the nominating convention (in Lincoln's life). Perhaps of more global import though is that this kinds of deep biographies may be impossible to write about current day figures because "journaling" has become passe in todays world. All those reflections and insights are lost.

I am really surprised how good this book really is. Some cursory checks seem to show that the author has been reasonably true to his actual biography and timeline of life events. Having found these previously secret diaries only buttresses what we already know about the character of Abe Lincoln. :-)

This is really an incredible book having to do with true lasting friendship.

I have missed out on some good books by not reading Cussler, until now.

Read this as part of a class I took years ago "Literature of the Occult". Time for a change of pace read.
