For the record, I think this book has an interesting plot and setting. Very rich in the Filipino culture, and I know that those who understood the references made would really appreciate it.

I don’t, however, think that this book should be as long as it is.

Dang. The first 4 chapters hooked me like crazy. But after that love scene with the ghost, the pace slowed down too much.

Something feels off with this book’s structure. The plot seemed a little all over the place with story beats feeling meaningless.

The prose is also making it very difficult to immerse myself. Varre feels like an empty shell of a character.

Also, the similarity of the world with ASOAIF is uncanny. It makes it difficult to separate this world with Essos.

The prose reminded me a lot of how GRRM writes, often distancing away from the MC. Finding it a little difficult to anchor myself in the story because I don’t know anything abour Varre.
