Bought this as part of the Sarah Moss fest. It is too intense and the banality of being stuck with the banality of caring for young children sleepless nights and lack of focus was too much. I skipped right through to the end. Not good for improving one's overall mood or getting good nights sleep.

Geraldine Moxham really enjoyed this and gave me her copy. I got to the end . Initially I saw the attraction and wanted to enjoy it but it did not keep my interest. I will, however look forward to watching the film.

Reall enjoyd this as an audiobook. There were some horrible, violent parts which were tricky but most of that was early on and in contet so did not hear too uch of thedetail. It nearly stopped me listening but Im happy to have continued.

Enjoyed the psychology family saga comfort "read" and loved hearing her voice.

I was enjoying it. It is well writen but quite difficult subject matter with someone living a miserable life which was obviously going to to get worse as the book progressed.
I decided life is too short to reside in someone elses misery.
I only read the first quater of the book.

I would read anotherone of these.
The historical aspect was interesting fr me.
A protestant guarda after the civil war inIreland.
He is judged by having or not having milk in his tea.
It was darkerthan I had anticipated with th epriesthood being "in charge" of young boys.
Recommended by Jane Garvey as a short read.

read this againand enjoyed it. i felt in less of a rush and gave more attentio to the first part. It kept my interest throughout.

Rachel G lent this to me. I was really enjoying it, compelling stories, well written but because it is a collection of short stories it just doesn't work well with me wanting to read to fall asleep. They end at the wrong times.

As I was reading it I had this in mind and kept wondering how her thinking might have been changed by it. I thought it was a story well told and from a different perspective from most books covering Muslims in Britain/ the west but it was not profound in that way.
It was well written and informative, a good read.
