I'm just not in the right frame of mind to read about graphic r*ping and SA. And I'm not sure I will be in the near future... don't know yet if it would be healthy for me to return to this.

Pausing this because i want to read it physically, not via ebook. It's so goood and I don't want the ebook to impact my reading experience because I feel that it is.

Look, I knew this was gonna be a romance between professor and student, which can be weird, but sometimes they can still be similar in age. This? The prof is over 20 years older? Absolutely not.

I already see why this is probably a good book and why a lot of people like it, but I just don't think it's my kind of book unfortunately...

I love VE Schwab so much, but I don't know what to say... my interest in this is at 0%. This story has simply not hooked me one bit. It's not horrible, it's not good.

Okay, objectively I can see Elena Ferrante is a good writer, but for some reason I just can't gel with her. I didn't like 'My Brilliant Friend' by her, but because every one loves it, I wondered if maybe I didn't like the book because we were following young girls. So I decided to read this one to see if the book is the problem or the author. But no, I don't think Elena and me are gonna be friends.

I couldn't care less about what happens to Emily. Her and Wendell have 0 chemistry, actually they have negative 20% chemistry. I just can't get on board with them.
Emily constantly preaches how smart she is but I'm not seeing any of that supposed intelligence put into action. How about you stop telling me you're so smart and show me instead?

I'm sorry, I just can't do it. I just don't want to. My interest is at a negative 100%. I don't like the writing; it's racist, and uninteresting. Mind you, I usually never have an issue with privileged complaining characters, but this one is just annoying and I don't feel sorry for her in any way. She is the one making herself a victim.

No idea where the story is going and simply isn't captivating either.
I didn't understand what the point was of the main character being the way he is, he just uses the women around him. A man that every woman lusts over and wants to climb like a tree, the second they see him, is simply not my cup of tea.

The only miracle we can perform is to go on living, to preserve the fragility of life from day to day, as it it were blind and did not know where to go, and perhaps it is like that, perhaps it really does not know, it places itself in our hands, after giving us intelligence, and this is what we have made of it.

found this on the shelf of a hostel I'm staying at in Thailand, so I thought why not read it

saw someone say this reminded them of normal people, i kind of see why - and it's exactly what i like. starting to get attached to these beautiful characters. i love books about love that are not love stories i realised
