an insightful coming of age story about toru, a quiet, thoughtful student, who’s life changed after his best friend committed suicide. a sad story that doesn’t focus on the sad, but frames it as a natural part of life, where we will all experience grief and hurt. reikos last letter before naoko’s death is a fantastic view into how imperfect and unexpected life is for all of us
