This book is making me ache for something I don't think I've ever experienced in this life.

It's been a long time since a book has rocked the foundations of how I think about things. I feel like this is changing my brain chemistry.

The first chapter/prologue of this book is so devastating to me because it shows me what I have been missing and it's beautiful and soulful and I'm so disappointed I haven't found it until now.

Not gonna lie, the whole "My night monsters" is really kinda cringe and ruining this whole thing for me... It's trying to be elegant, but it's just... giving me second hand embarrassment...

I forgot how disgusting this dude was... Learning about his early life didn't make him any less so.

It's not often I come across a historical book on witchcraft that's not seeped in Christian bias and wording. This is such a breath of fresh air! Enjoying it so far.

The longer I read, the more creepy this book gets.

This is... rough going. If the author didn't use such pretentious language, my ASD brain would understand it better.

I'm REALLY confused as to why they just gave names to the moons when there are plenty of sources out there that have already named the moons based on both witchcraft and Indigenous workings... NONE of the moon names in this book matched that... and that seems really weird to me.

The parts about the companies of dead you might work with are actually really nice, I plan on using some of this in my ever-growing practice.

It's kind of concerning that the author doesn't mention that you SHOULDN'T use body parts in necromancy while also explaining no other way to actually perform it (like using departed's objects or personal effects). AND I THINK IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER USE BODY PARTS IN WITCHCRAFT???????

Some of the workings seem to be taken from hoodoo and I'm not really ok with using things taken from other paths, but learning about them has been nice. And some of the workings have been useful too.

The beginning was rather dry and hard to get started, but because I'd learned the basics of beginning Trad craft from another book, it was easier to skim.

Mary out here breaking my heart and calling me out with "but there is something that happens when you are told you are too much/you begin to ask everyone ‘how small would you like me?’"
