Gabbi is starting England in the Seventeenth Century (The Pelican History of England, #6)
Sorry! Wrong book. I was actually referring to "A History of Our Country".
As for this one, it is very hard for me to concentrate on the information because the author is long winded. He needs to learn to place a comma here and there.

This will be my third read over the same beginning chapters and I'm still unable to retain hardly anything! I don't understand why. I love it every time I read through the history of our country!

Cooper has always been difficult for me to read because of his writing style. He was born in the 1700's after all! But, I love to read his books because it makes history fun!

Gabbi is on page 53 of 326 of Mortal Engines (Mortal Engines, #1)
The author is moving quickly. It's not a book for readers to become sympathetic toward any of the characters because there isn't a word written that evokes any emotion from the reader. As you move from one sentence to another the story is moving along and you have to keep up. There's no time to wait for anything to sink in. It's more like bare bones storytelling.
