Reading King in order.

The writing style is unusual. I imagine it's like your old British grandfather telling you fireside tales, but he's occasionally slipping into modern references and language.

I'm putting this aside in favor of another book. I'm struggling with the amateurish writing and the author's seeming compulsion to prove he knows 80s pop culture. Perhaps the writing level is intended to reflect the protagonist's age, but I don't have confidence in that, especially given the ham-fisted and ceaseless references to the 80s. The subject matter should be perfect for me, so I'm a little disappointed...
