It is obvious that the writers have no love or respect for Mao. It is also hard to know what is the truth since their word is as real to me as that of the party's line. Still, it is an interesting read, but far too detailed and long. I had to stop midway because I felt overwhelmed with all the details.

Yossi is 50% done with The Fifty-Year Mission: The Complete, Uncensored, Unauthorized Oral History of Star Trek-The First 25 Years
Finished with the original series section. After reading this it is hard to believe anything came out from this collection of ego-centric individuals. I found Walter Koenig to be the most amusing to read. While everyone else seems to have an agenda, he is just clueless as to what is happening around him.

As to the format of the book, it's like reading a documentary.

I have to stop, I just can't read this YA sh!t. The main character is not in the least interesting, and the constant action seems just plain forced. How did this book ever get the reputation it has?

It's an interesting premise, but the writing is just shoddy. This book needs a very hard editing session - the plot timelines are a mess, it's preachy (trying to teach economics 101, socialism principles and DevOps in a single fiction book) and repetitive and basically misses the mark.

Mid-way review. For a book that starts out by stating that all sci-fi books and movies are bulshit cliches, this book turned very fast to a standard invasion YA sci-fi cliche.
* Teens = good, adults = baaaad.
* Who do you trust?
* The war is fought with bad-ass teen soldiers.

This book tries to be everything and (at least so far) turns out to be nothing. But the narrative is enjoyable, so I'll probably finish
