This is so boring

I've finally realized why I am not a fan of Emily Henry's novels.

Her characters often feel 2D, and fall flat when they try to convey their traumas or feelings. Despite being in her late 20s, January behaves and thinks like an 18-year-old.

More importantly, January expects so much from other people, while taking no accountability for her own actions. IRRITATING.

"We're out of touch with 'what is play for us'?"

"Play is time spent without purpose."

I couldn't come up with a list for play.

It could be the narrators but it’s likely the story. I’m irritated.

Vanessa should’ve ended the relationship when Adrian had the audacity to say “we’re a couple, we have to make decisions together (about your life).”

Adrian is such a man baby.

God, these two are so annoying.

The issue with me is... I don't believe that love is enough to continue a partnership. ESPECIALLY, if two people come from very different socioeconomic classes.

I like to think I'm pretty progressive but it's in moments like these where I'm reminded that the power of duty almost always trumps romantic love...

"8,000 nerves in the clitoris, and still not as sensitive as a white man not getting his way."

The way I howled... the most entertained I've been during lunch hour at work.

This is such a fun read, I'm honestly having a blast. June is a funny girly.

I am CACKLING at the narrator's terrible voicing of Neil. Also, it's the fact that the narrator voices the female lead like she's 16, when she's 28.

WHY IS THE MAIN CHARACTER'S CURRENT BOYFRIEND A JOURNALIST?!

I HATE THIS. MAKE IT STOP.

Ah, yes. How love can conquer all...

"Dara had gone with a casual look... the reporter in him wondered if she did it on purpose."

A not-so-friendly reminder to myself, so I don't get irritated: don't read books where the character works in journalism.

I get journalists are glamourized, but I SWEAR TO YOU AS A JOURNALIST, IT'S NOT THAT COOL OK.

This is so cringey to listen to.

I want to stop reading this book so bad. The writing is average, the plot is not even a slow burn. It's simply slow. The characters who are supposedly in their adult years (can't remember how old exactly) act like children. All around--very unconvincing. But I started so I might as well rally.
