This is absolutely amazing. Why have I not read it before?
Stupid teenage me deciding it was rubbish and not to read it.

Fucking hell.
This book is horrific.
It’s also really good, but shit.

Matt Hunt is 75% done with Unexpected Stories
This is my first Octavia E Butler which I aquired as part of the Humbee "Women of SciFi" Bundle.
This is only two short stories and I've just read the first one which was incredible. I'm disappointed that I've never read any of her work before, why had nobody told me too (assuming of course that one short story being excellent extrapolates to the who body of work).

So far this is absolutely delightful. reminds me of Kirsty Logan's *The Rental Heart*. Deep emotion in a seemingly light whimsical package.

Direction of the road: also in the winds twelve quartets. it's a really interesting, quirky piece from a unique perspective I've never seen done before. great tone, really enjoyable

Matt Hunt is on page 106 of 285 of The Unreal and the Real Volume 1: Where on Earth
Brothers and Sisters: Great story, but not much to think about. A week in the Country: same Unlocking the air: structured nicely. imaginary countries: nice and whimsical The Diary of a Rose: pretty much the author at her most sublime. Characters that are revealed and develop fascinatingly and some deep political/philosophic though it all.

Matt Hunt is starting Bone Swans: Stories
Read the Nebula nominated "The Bone Swans of Amandale". that alone is getting a full 5 stars. It's a really enthusiastic, boisterous and complex fairy tale that has none of the turgid explanation of similar tales.
Can't wait to read the other 4 stories.
