Very interesting plot line for historical fiction. This author’s writing is beautifully descriptive

I’m not really loving the narrator in the audio book.

Favorite line: it’s eleven years of work and sacrifice…she’s got an apple tart she has to take to the Fourth of July block party next weekend.
